Under the general auspices of Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia – Protection and Rescue Department and under the auspices of Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Republic of Serbia – Work Safety and Health Care Division, the 36th International Protection and Safety Fair takes place on May 27 – 30, at Belgrade Fair. This is a specialized event, promoting a new concept of the citizen protection and rescue under emergency situations, a new approach to the work safety and health care and the manned / technical security.

- The Ministry of Interior of Serbia is already for the third time the Patron of this event, which obtains an increasing importance in the country, but also in the region, which is shown but the increasing interest of our colleagues from the neighboring countries, said Mr. Predrag Maric, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Interior of Serbia and Head of the Protection and Rescue Department.
- This year I am especially calling attention to the consulting Presence and Future of  Fire Protection, under participation of prominent experts, within which we shall introduce parts of the new Fire Protection Law.

Ms. Vera Bozic Trefalt, Managing Director of the Work Safety and Health Care Division, operating within the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, also expressed her great pleasure on the organization of this event, since an important branch got the treatment it deserved. Dealing with the prevention, closing to the EU standards within the protection and safety, as well as the work culture development, influenced the reduced number of injuries at work. She pointed out, the risk estimation, which also belonged to the prevention, had a great importance, as well, warning that it was a field in which one had to take care at all levels, in large corporations, but also the small and medium sized enterprises.

- An increasing number of the participants and the larger engaged exhibiting space show the growing importance of this event, explained Mr. Andjelko Trpkovic, General Manager of Belgrade Fair. I think a good concept has been found, following the events in both Ministries as Patrons. It is the utmost time that we stop talking about safety only when it is endangered and crying over the consequences. The resolution is in a continuous consciousness rising.

A hundred local and international companies will participate in the Protection and Safety Fair 2008, at more than nine thousand square meters, in the Halls 1 and 14. Mr. Zoran Gligoric, Project Manager, said the participants in the event were renowned protection equipment manufacturers, providers and company agents from 19 countries – Greece, Italy, Croatia, Austria, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, Korea, Germany, Taiwan, the USA and UK. Companies from Greece, Italy, Russia and Croatia will attend the event as direct exhibitors and the visitors will have the opportunity to see a part of the product range of the best known worldwide manufacturers within the protection and safety.

At the Press Conference, special attention was paid to the extensive Side Event Program, which will take place in all the four days of the event. In addition to this, practices in fire protection and rescue will be daily demonstrated in the outdoor space, organized and carried out by the Fire Brigade of the Protection and Rescue Department in Belgrade, City Public Health Institute, City First Aid Institute and the Mountain Rescue Team.

The Protection and Safety Fair takes place from 10.00 a. m. to 5.00 p. m. and the entry for all business visitors is free of charge. A single ticket price for other visitors is RSD.300.00.

The event festive opening is on Tuesday, May 27, at 11.00 a. m. in Belgrade Fair Hall 1.
