A Connection of Sport and Business
A Connection of Sport and Business

Under cooperation with Belgrade Fair and under the auspices of the Lion Beer, Serbian Football Association and the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, the 2nd LION FOOTBALL SHOW 2008 has been opened. Thus, Belgrade "reached" Barcelona or Paris, the worldwide capitals raising great attention by such events.

During this three day event, organized by Rashmans Co, football fans will be able to be informed of the news in the Serbian Football Association, activities in our largest and most successful clubs, they will be able to see stands of sports equipment manufacturers, importers and wholesalers. The organizers did their best to make it an interactive exhibition and let football experts show their abilities and talent. This year under the slogan "Play to Win", the Football Show provides its contribution to the International Liposome Fighting Day, as well.

At the opening ceremony of the 2nd LION FOOTBALL SHOW 2008, the organizers also awarded the annual prizes to those who contributed in different ways to the development of this sport in Serbia, but also to the successful organization of this event.

The Fair Play Prize was awarded to Mr. Igor Dejanovic, President of the football association under the same name. For his contribution to football, the prize for awarded to Mr. Igor Jankovic from the Children’s Football Association, whereas for the innovations in this sport, the prize was received by Mr. Dragomir Jovanovic, the owner of the Web site www.transferliga.com This nice recognition was handed over to him by Sasa Curcic, our famous football player and this year’s Football Show Promoter.

- Football is an innovation and imagination and this is an internal beauty show. Football is not the most important side event in the world anymore, the point ‘side’ is not current anymore and it is just the most important one now. I require from both exhibitors and visitors a good mood, since this is and should be a smile show, said Sasa Curcic.

On behalf of the Serbian Football Association, the football fans were approached by Mr. Zoran Bingulac, a member of the Executive Board of this Association, who said such shows contributed to football development and sports generally, but they were also important for the development of Belgrade itself.

The representatives of the 2nd LION FOOTBALL SHOW 2008 awarded also two special prizes – jerseys of the football national team of Serbia with the winner names, who also contributed to the improvement of this attractive event and promotion of this so favorite sport both in our country and worldwide.

The first jersey was awarded to Mr. Andjelko Trpkovic, General Manager of Belgrade Fair, since the good cooperation with the organizers caused moving of this event where it belongs to – to Belgrade Fair halls. He said in a joking way it did not matter that he as the prize winner was probably the worst football player among all attendees, but it did matter that Belgrade was a good host, supporting the development and promotion of each business, in this case football, having also the business note, in addition to the sports one.

- I hope football players will become from good players even better persons, who will learn through sport how nice it is to win, but will also accept defeats, under an additional effort to turn them into wins in the future. I expect the national team, clubs and football players to provide us with the opportunity to root for them and be happy for their successes as often as possible.

The second jersey was awarded to Mr. Aleksandar Radisavljevic, General Manager of the company Carlsberg Serbia, the brewer of the Lion Beer. He said that company was present in the worldwide football for a long time and the same strategy was applied in Serbia, as well, since it has been the General Sponsor of the football national team of Serbia already for four years.
