- The Book Fair was visited by 127 thousand visitors with bought tickets, but all calculations show that the Fair was visited by 140 thousand people in the past seven days, said Mr. Andjelko Trpkovic, Belgrade Fair CEO, at the final Press Conference. - In addition to four thousand invitation cards we distributed, 4,300 people have got their annual tickets and, like every year, 2,282 librarians entered the Fair free of charge, as well. Journalists, cameramen and photo reporters from the local media got 841 accreditations and, owing to the international media, who accredited 67 journalists, the news from the 54th International Belgrade Book Fair became the international ones.
Stating there were 443 direct exhibitors at the Book Fair, the Fair CEO said more than 800 publishers from Serbia and worldwide had featured at their stands. He explained it was a fantastic result, since 400 exhibitors had participated in the Frankfurt Fair, so ‘slightly less – just for a whole Fair in Belgrade’.
About 500 people were directly hired at the Book Fair and many more of them indirectly, since 5 – 10 people were working at each stand. According to some calculations, more than three thousand people worked at the Book Fair.
Mr. Zeljko Ozegovic, President of the Book Fair Council, also spoke with great pleasure of this year’s Book Fair:
- We gathered readers, authors, publishers and critics at one place. We are proud of the Book Fair, since it is a brand of Belgrade and Serbia, it showed its vitality also in the economic crisis and accomplished its cultural and educational mission once more.
Ms. Vladislava Gordic Petkovic, the Art Director of this event, also spoke of the Book Fair as a great event, saying the Fair had been a small country in the past seven days, a small continent, where there had been many books and more side event programs than ever before.
