With a 48 years of tradition and as the major event in the region in the branch of woodworking industry – the International Fair of Furniture, Equipment and Interior Decoration and the International Exhibition of Woodworking Machines, Tools and Production Materials, have been festively opened at Belgrade Fair. This event showcasing modern furniture and presenting various trends and styles in equipping interiors, will last until 21st November.
Pointing out that Belgrade Fair has become the place for presenting furniture industry trends in the region, Slobodan Mislosavljevic, Minister of Trade and Services in the Serbian Government, said that great effort has been made in the organisation of one such event, both by Belgrade Fair and its exhibitors.
"Serbia is waiting for the economic recovery and the beginning of the new investment cycle for the woodworking industry ," said Milosavljevic. " Young and creative people will be able to realize their ideas only when they are provided with business environment and finances. The number of countries ready to trade is increasing constantly, furniture manufacturers should export to the countries with which we have the free trade economic agreement."
Minister said that after the last year’s 3% downturn, the estimated growth of the 2% gross income should be the stimulus for the woodworking industry. He also emphasized that the Serbian government is making great efforts to bring back our products to the attractive markets of North African countries and Arabian Peninsular.
After the Oepning Ceremony, Minister of Trade and Services has toured the Fair which presents 500 exhibitors this year, of which 150 come from the foreign countries. Manufacturers, distributors and importers of furniture, tools and production materials have presented their furniture, styles, design and quality in all the available Belgrade Fair Halls.
