The famous alpine skier Boris Strel, the first Yugoslav and the only Slovenian Giant Slalom World Cup Winner, will open the jubilant 25th EXPO ZIM. The International Fair of Winter Sport Equipment, Tourism and Recreation takes place on December 2 – 5 and Mr. Boris Strel will be the Guest of Honor there, as well.

The former giant slalom specialist – the winner in Cortina d’ Ampezzo in 1981, the third place at the World Championship in Schladming, in 1982 and the fifth place at the Olympic Games in Sarajevo, was a Belgrade Fair guest a week before the event opening and in a discussion with sport journalists, he expressed his pleasure for his participation in this unique review of winter sports in the Region.

Mr. Boris Strel said he was currently a member of the Expert Council of the Ski Slovenia organization and worked on establishing the best possible communication between the competitors and trainers. Skiing was an individual sport, but it was trained collectively and the advantage to the team brought good results.

Having mentioned that he visited the EXPO ZIM last year, as well, Mr. Strel said it was a good event, contributing to the development of winter sports, but the attitude on these sports had to be changed. He said the attitude that the equipment maintenance was very important for the safe sport had to be accepted in these regions and he found his place just in this section for his business in Serbia.

-The Ski Service Strel has already been opened under cooperation with the Ski Club Royal from Serbia, but we shall feature it to the general audience at the 25th EXPO ZIM, said Mr. Boris Strel.
-Last year, I saw that service staffs in Serbia have got difficulties since the ski maintenance technology has been changed. Thus, I offered this market my knowledge, experience and financial investment. We shall offer our clients good conditions and high standard of our services. We shall cooperate both with skiers and the service workshops, for which we shall carry out the finishing operations in the equipment maintenance.

How to become the top skier?

-General sport education, self-discipline and sports lifestyle are the basic points for each sportsman, including a skier.  In addition to this, the top skier has to have a high quality trainer, as well, he has to be physically strong and a great heart is also necessary to endure the tempo, speed and eliminate fear, said Mr. Boris Strel.
