The Jadran Express train will drive from June 10 to August 27 on the Belgrade – Split – Belgrade line, it was announced by Mr. Milovan Markovic, CEO of the Serbian Railways, at the Tourism Fair.
Departure from Belgrade will be on Fridays at 3.20 pm and the train will arrive at Split on Saturdays at 8.39 am. The return from Split to Belgrade is at 5.09 pm and the return travel to Belgrade takes an hour less. The train will have the sleeping and car transportation wagons, as well.
The train speed is 160 km/1 hour. It will have about 30 beds, air conditioning system, sound and lighting devices, computer links and the vacuum toilet. If there is greater interest than expected, more wagons will be added to this line during the season.
Mr. Renato Humic, Chairman of the Croatian Railways – Passenger Transportation, said that company wanted to have promotional activities like that train during the market liberalization and pointed out that project was planned and initiated by mutual funds of the Croatian and Serbian Railways.
Making his comment to the too long travelling on the above mentioned line to Split, Mr. Humic explained the infrastructure situation on the Railways was unenviable, expressing his hope that efforts would be put on the railroad quality improvement.
