The 3rd International Specialized Fair of Technologies for Fruits and Vegetables Growing, Processing and Storing has been opened at Belgrade Fair. The FRUVEG EXPO BALKAN 2011 is held at the Hall 3 and lasts till Saturday, September 24.

- Fruit picking is an important strategic business of Serbia, which should become a great green garden, said Mr. Zaharije Trnavčević, this event coordinator, pointing out that Serbia may not have oil and gas, but has healthy food,

The FRUVEG was festively opened by Mr. Dušan Petrović, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management in the Government of Serbia, saying the fruits and vegetables growing are the activities having perspective:

- These groceries growing may considerably improve the manufacturers’ standard, since Serbia is an ideal country for growing of fruits, vegetables and grains. We have got both a good land and climate and, in order to become the leader, we need investment, a good organization and education. We have got great plans, since we believe two million people doing this business may live better and the Government will do everything to help them in it. These are the plans for the year 2012, but we start realizing them immediately, said the Minister of Agriculture at the FRUVEG festive opening.
