Furniture Fair despite crisis

Ranked among the oldest and most attractive Belgrade Fair events, 49th International Fair of Furniture, Equipment and Interior Decoration, together with the International Exhibition of Woodworking Machines and Tools will be held from 14th – 20th November at Belgrade Fair.

This year, the Fair will gather some 500 exhibitors of which one third are international, coming from twenty European countries: Austria, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Republika Srpska, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Slovenia, Croatia, etc.

According to Branislav Krmar, Department Head, with its long tradition, this event has proved its importrance by gathering u huge number of exhibitors at the time when many similar events have been discontinued in the region, showing that Belgrade Furniture Fair has maintained the same level as the previous years. Some of the old exhibitors will not take part but the new ones have applied, the new firms bringing new quality.

Under the slogan "Furniture Fair will happen to you", we shall have an opportunity to see the latest trends in the furniture production, design and marketing. With the special promotion of domestic manufacturters, the audience will see complete range of furniture, the latest styles of sets and piece furniture aimed for furnishing office and business premises, public facilities and interiors. The visitors can get ideas and advice from the architects to make the right choice in creating the pleasant living environment.


NATIONAL EXHIBITIONS

National Exhibtions of Republika Srpska, Slovenia and Croatia are among the traditional ones, while manufacturers from Romania and Bulgaria will also present themselves as the national exhibitions.

Speaking on behalf of the Romanian Association of the furniture manufacturers, Olga Milicevic said that Romanian government with expert teams has made a great honour to Belgrade Fair by appearing as organised participants, displaying their exhibits on 400sqm space. Besides presenting their products, they will make numerous meetings with our manufacturers, since they are also interested in mutual business projects.

Programme entitled "Development and Increase of Competitiveness of Bulgarian Economy 2003 -2013" will present Bulgarian furniture manufacturers under the auspices of the Bulgarian national SME agency, with the aim to establish better international position of the Bulgarian economy.


EXHIBITIONS

Great attention has been paid to the exhibition of design at the Press Conference announcing Furniture Fair, prepared by associations, faculties and trade schools dealing with the education of designers.

On behalf of ULUPUDS, Vladimir Lovric said that design is very important having become a brand for some of the nations, offering free possibilities in expressing differences.

Zoran Bulajic, Faculty of Applied Arts pointed out to the need to establish creativity in domestic industry. He said there was no natural connection between design and furniture production, these being the two paralel paths, which should be connected soon.

International Exhibition of Woodworking Machines and Tools

This exhibition is simultaneously held every year with the International Fair of Furniture, Equipment and Interior Decoration as its integral part. Furniture manufacturers can find all neccesary materials and tools they need at one place.
Meetings, presentations, topics and debates among furniture and interior designers are the highlight of the Fair.


SERVICE INFORMATION

Opening ceremony is on Monday 14th November at 11a.m. The Fair will be opened by Dusan Petrovic, Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management in the Republic of Serbia.

Opening hours are from 10a.m. to 20p.m., except the last day, when the Fair closes its gates two hours earlier.

Single tickets are 300 din, group visits are 200 din, and car park is 100 din per hour.
